It is tradition for my girls and I to go to Main Street a weekend in December for the Christmas celebration. This year we were hit with 7 inches of snow so unless I get to go next weekend, I had to post the photos I took when we went in Christmas 2006.
Main street is very historical, so therefore every weekend in December the town has "Christmas characters" of all sorts walking around (there are aprox 25-30 characters). Each has a card that they hand out which tells their relation to Christmas. Kids, as well as adults eagerly collect to see if they can get every character before the parade begins. They have different santas from different eras as well as other countries. There is a sugar plum farie, Jack Frost, Ebonezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, Carolers singing carols and a variety of others. They all speak with people as if they are the character they are playing.
All of the shops along Main street are very quaint and beautiful not only in the historical arcitecture but also in the decorations inside and out.
